Back in September 2023 I was at my heaviest, I think I knew I was heavy, but you don’t actually realize how heavy until you lose the weight. I knew I had to do something; I’d wake up in the middle of the night panicking and tell myself, “It’s ok, there’s nothing you can do about it right now,” just to get myself to go back to sleep. I was working out twice a week with a trainer and somehow, I thought that was enough. My diet was horrible.
I was following a local small business owner on Instagram, and she was documenting and posting videos of her going to a wellness clinic and getting a shot that was helping her lose weight. I had heard of Ozempic, but that’s not what she was on. This was definitely before Instagram was flooded with micro-dosing and skinny being the new trend. She would document how she felt, she’d be nauseous but stayed with the program. Her results were incredible. I decided to look this place up online and give them my contact. They called me right away. I decided to try it. I went on Tirzepatide.
All I knew about this stuff was that it wasn’t making me hungry, my appetite was gone. I was living off of a protein shake and a bowl of chicken noodle soup everyday. I skipped dinner all the time, I didn’t really even want a glass of wine. I went from 165 to 130 fairly quick. It was amazing. The stress was gone and I didn’t really even need to work out. When I did workout, I’d just about pass out.
I was about to get married in Maui and I had to get my wedding dress altered twice just so it would fit. I eventually went off of it, and I thought I looked good but looking back, it was “skinny fat.” I was so uneducated about EVERYTHING. A couple weeks went by and I couldn’t believe how hungry I was, the “food noise” was back and I was gaining weight. I completely started to freak out. I remember having a complete meltdown before going to my niece’s sporting event, I was in my closet crying telling my husband I was fat. I was not fat.
So, what had I learned from Tirzepatide? Answer: Not eating makes you skinny. I decided to go back on a maintenance dose, very small. It was like, “ahh, much better.” I was losing the weight I had gained, and then some. I got so skinny my husband started to worry about me. I needed to go off of it, I was literally a bag of bones and I didn’t care, I liked it. Something had to change.
I started researching all the things. All the healthy habits, all the supplements, the workout regimens, everything. I needed a lifestyle change. I made some goals, I listened to the podcasts, I started following all the influencers. I did it all. I went off of Tirzepatide.
I don’t have any regrets. I do wish that I was more educated in the beginning, but I think I had to go through that to get where I am today and I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t been on it.
