Love Story
Very interesting read today from, big surprise, a social media influencer. She writes about all the things you can be doing…hitting all the macros, lifting all the weights, drinking all the water, hitting your steps, and getting in your sleep; however, if you don’t love yourself first, embrace your past, give yourself grace, you will never love yourself even at your most fit. She mentions that you cannot hate yourself to a better physique and you CAN love yourself at still want more.
Personally, I don’t know where I’m at with this. I know for a fact that my workouts are no longer punishment, they are something that I love and I’ve found a system that I think is fun. I think the classes are fun and it’s been absolutely wild watching my body change through weightlifting. I know in the past that I’ve hated things about myself but at what point do you know that you love yourself? Is that really possible? I tell my legs “Good job,” and “thank you” quite a bit as I put them through hell all the time; is that love?
I know that I am happier now with myself than I’ve ever been. When I was skinny fat, I was less stressed, but still not very happy. Looking back, I can see that now. Strength training has really shifted my mindset. Sometimes I feel like a real bad ass when I’m lifting, like, hell yes LFG! I know this is something that I’ll never quit, and I’m excited to see where it takes me in the next year.
