No One’s Coming for You
Heading into a three-day weekend for Labor Day. Feeling a little anxious about having to skip a workout on Monday but that’s my cardio day and I plan on getting a lot of steps in while I do my cleaning after our guests leave. I’ve been reading a lot about how not to get hung up on things like having to skip a day and then punishing yourself afterwards; just continue on as you were. We’ll be at our lake house, and I’ve got my workout planned for Saturday morning and some healthy food options I’ll be bringing along. After a weekend away I typically retain a TON of water, the scale is ALWAYS up on Monday’s. I’m going to do my best to stay hydrated and not snack too much. I do have to say that this year at the lake has been a huge improvement from last year. Actually, working out at the lake has become one of my most favorite things to do. I’m up before everyone else, on the deck, getting my workout in and watching the sun come up; what a blessing that has been. Although, we are getting into fall here in North Idaho and I don’t think I’ll be able to stand the cold for a workout on the deck. I’ll need to do some thinking on what I’ll do when the house is full, it’s freezing out, and I need to get a workout in.
I’m just a better person when I get my workout in. If it’s not my scheduled day off, I get really cranky. I wonder if that’s normal? It’s like I get pissed at myself and then I’m just pissy towards everything and everybody. I know people think I’m a tad crazy for wanting to work out so much, but it’s not really about the actual workout itself, it’s about being consistent and showing up for myself. Kirsten Ferguson, one of my favorite Peloton instructors, has said many times, “no one’s going to do the work for you, no one’s coming for you.” No one can do it for me. This is me and my journey, my body.
