Rage Against the Dysmorphia
A little end of the day thought…. I just watched a reel on Instagram. I woman walked in front of a mirror and the tag line said “after missing one workout.” And then she looked in the mirror; her reflection was her, but obese. Again, we are not all alone, which I totally thought I was alone in this for a very long time. It’s incredible the amount of courage it takes someone to put that out there. I know I couldn’t do it. Maybe we’re all trying to be stronger than the mirror, one day at a time. Body dysmorphia is real, and it sucks.
“Five common symptoms of body dysmorphic disorder include extreme preoccupation with a minor physical flaw, compulsive mirror checking, camouflaging the flaw, constantly comparing appearance to others, and avoiding social situations.” - Mayo Clinic
