Day after Day…

I’ve been feeling a little stuck in the rut lately. I’m doing all the right things, staying consistent, sticking to my routine, but I can’t seem to help but feel like something needs to change. Deep down inside I know my nutrition could use a boost but man, I think I’d have to go all in and I’m not sure I’m ready for that. I do pretty good during the week at work, eating the same things so that I don’t have to think about it and when I get home things don’t totally go downhill, but that’s where I could improve.

My routine: Wake up at 4:45, change for a workout, make some water with my special packet mix of caffeine and some sort of fat burner.

Monday: 60 minutes of hiking on the treadmill - this day I sweat it out.

Tuesday: 38 minutes of my 1990’s Brazilian Butt Lift DVD - this is the best, I swear by this workout. Bands and ankle weights. After that I hop on the tread for a 30 or 45 minute hike, whatever I have time for.

Wednesday: Two 30 minute Peloton walking Bootcamps. This is my heavy lifting day. Then 20 minutes of glutes and legs. Next a 10 minute walk or hike.

Thursday: Recovery day from lifting - 60 minute power walk.

Friday: Same as Tuesday.

Saturday: This depends on where I’m at. If I’m at home, I’ll do a bootcamp and a hike or a strength class and a hike. If there’s anything “live” on Peloton I’ll take it. If I’m at our Lake House, I’ll do a full body strength class and add on a little ab workout.

Sunday: I’ve been taking this as a rest day, no workout at all. However, when training for a race, I’ll do a walk + run on the treadmill.

After my workout, I take my AG1 green juice with a scoop of creatine.

Then comes my Shakeology. A scoop of the Tropical Strawberry with a banana and a tablespoon of chia seeds, ya know, us women got to keep up on that fiber.

When I get to work I eat some cottage cheese and blueberries. I love this combo. I actually crave it.

I’ve been adding in a zip fizz lately. I don’t know how I got so addicted to those. I just love the club soda fizz. Yumm.

Lunch: Mainly chickpea soup or a homestyle chicken noodle. Somedays I just want something crunchy and I grab a bag of chips from the communal chip box at work. Bad habit, I know.

Snacks: Cute little cup of Oikos Greek yogurt. Or I’ll have that with my soup. Other snacks consist of string cheese, mini beef jerky stick, waterloo, if that counts? Recently added in a pickle.

I track all of this, everyday. I write it all in my planner. I start the day by writing my weight down.

I REALLY need to start drinking more plain water. Yikes.

Then I go home. And I’m usually so whooped from a crazy day or mentally exhausted from a very long ass day. So I have some wine. I’m more conscious now about what I eat for dinner. I try to make sure I get my protein, but then I have a glass of wine with my dinner. And then another glass after cleaning up after dinner.

I ALWAYS have my clothes ready to go for my morning workout. Recently I’ve been setting my mat out, getting my shoes and weights set out the night before. It’s amazing just how much time doing the little things saves in the morning.

I’ve been reading Atomic Habits by James Clear, I’m not finished yet but that’s another story…
